Be a Disciple – “Poor, broken, weak and hungry”

Jesus begins his first extensive teaching in Matthew’s account of His ministry by pronouncing a series of blessings on people who in the worlds eyes do not appear to be blessed:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Mt. 5)

Youth Ministry Training

This is a great training event – similar to the one that Tyler and I went to in Feb. I’d love to see us take a team of folks. St. Louis is within driving distance – its a long day but if we take or go with a big group, its doable. We could probably gather 12+ Disciples folks from NTA that would want to go together.

AND, there’s a volunteer opportunity – deadline is June 30, but its worth a shot if anyone’s interested – check it out! (and they might need more folks after that deadline)

Teaching them to OBEY

When Jesus sends us into the world, on our way, to make disciples from among all nations, He is calling us to BE disciples – to be in relationship with the Father, so that in and through our relationship with the Father, others might come to konw him too.

To BE disciples, means that we are to learn and do those things that Jesus asks of us – to hear His commands to us, and to follow them.
